College Presents Sampling of Public Events Through Early January

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2008) - The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh is pleased to announce a calendar of events through early January. This calendar contains a sampling of arts, workshops, talks and other events at the college, all of which are open to the public and many of which are free of charge.

SUNY Plattsburgh College Council to Meet Monday, Dec. 1

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2008) - The SUNY Plattsburgh College Council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 1. The meeting will take place at 1 p.m. in the Videoconferencing Room 416, Sibley Hall, located on the college campus.

A Soulful Christmas Comes to Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY (Nov. 20, 2008) - The Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir is planning to bring a little soul to the North Country with their annual Christmas concert. The show is on Dec. 7 and starts at 4:30 p.m. in the E. Glenn Glitz Auditorium in Hawkins Hall on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus.

Department of Music Presents Karen Becker and Friends Concert

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (NOV. 12, 2008) - The SUNY Plattsburgh music department will present the popular concert recital series, "Karen Becker and Friends" on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall, on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. The concert will feature Dr. Karen Becker (piano) with guest artist, Janet Harriman (harp) playing music for 277 strings. Admission is free and open to the public.

Statement Regarding Rational Tuition Policy

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2008) - SUNY Plattsburgh issued the following statement in response to the SUNY Board of Trustees approval of a Rational Tuition Policy at its Nov. 18 meeting:

Champlain Valley Voices and SUNY Plattsburgh Choral Union Present Handel's Messiah

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (NOV. 12, 2008) - On Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m., the Champlain Valley Voices and the SUNY Plattsburgh Choral Union, led by Artistic Director Karen Becker, will present a winter concert featuring "The Messiah," G.F. Handel's most successful and best-known oratorio.

SUNY Plattsburgh Hosts Program on Displaced People of Sudan

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 18, 2008) - The editor of the soon-to-be-released book, "Out of Exile: Narratives from the Abducted and Displaced People of Sudan," will speak about human rights in the Sudan and Congo on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 12:15 p.m. in Room 202, Yokum Hall on the SUNY Plattsburgh Campus.

Night of Nations Celebrates Diversity

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 18, 2008) - SUNY Plattsburgh has the second largest number of international students, per capita, of any of the colleges in the State University of New York System, coming in second only to the University at Buffalo. In order to celebrate the diversity on campus, the students, with the guidance of Larry Dolan, student activities assistant, created a night in which international students can educate the community about their cultures.

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (NOV. 11, 2008) - The SUNY Plattsburgh music department will present a Symphonic Band Concert on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall, on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

SBDC Offers Elizabethtown Workshop for Entrepreneurs Hoping to Open a Business

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2008) - The North Country Small Business Development Center at SUNY Plattsburgh, in partnership with the Essex County Industrial Development Agency, is hosting a seminar for individuals who want to learn what to do before hanging an "open for business" sign.
